Renowned British-Lebanese human rights barrister Amal Clooney has been appointed as a visiting professor of practice in international law at the University of Oxford’s Blavatnik School of Government.
An Oxford alumna, Clooney studied law at St. Hugh’s College before building a distinguished career advocating for victims of genocide, sexual violence, and human rights abuses in global courts, including the International Criminal Court.
The Blavatnik School expressed enthusiasm over her appointment, highlighting her invaluable expertise in shaping research and teaching. Clooney, who has co-authored two international law textbooks and previously served as a visiting professor at Columbia Law School, described the role as an honor and an opportunity to mentor future global leaders.
In 2016, she co-founded the Clooney Foundation for Justice with her husband, actor George Clooney. The organization provides legal aid for press freedom and women’s rights cases across more than 40 countries.
Her new role at Oxford reflects her continued commitment to advancing access to justice worldwide.
